My 68 Firebird 350 motor has been rebuilt and installed, it seems to have a bit of a tilt from the front to the back sitting in the engine bay. The fan is in the shroud at the bottom and about 3" out on the top. Is this how the motor should be sitting? Any ideas if not?
I just joined this site to get great advice on my 1968 Firebird/
Thanks

Doesn't sound right. My '68 engine sits pretty level. Tell us about the motor mounts, trans, and trans crossmember.

Assuming the engine is properly attached to the motor mounts I would next look at the pinion angle.
The shaft exiting the transmission should be very close to the angle entering the rear end. Level is optimal, or 2 degrees lower which allows for rear end torqueing.
If this isn't the case I would look at the transmission mount...it may be incorrect or need to be shimmed.

Are you sure your radiator support isn't bent? 3" difference top to bottom and the end of your trani would be dragging on the ground.

do you have fenders installed or just the rad support sitting on the mounts. fenders locate the top of the rad support and make everything sit square. Good luck. Neill.

The motor was installed with the car complete fenders, rad support and all, I will check the transmission mount, the rad is sitting in the right vertical position. Hopefully it is just the trans mount and not a frame issue. I am trying to get the car to run cooler on when idling.
Thanks for the feedback.

The car was compete when the motor was installed. I am trying to get the car to run cooler when idling or cruising at slow speeds. I want to get the fan in the shroud and closer to the rad. That is when I noticed the tilt. I am running a 18" fan with a clutch assembly. Was the stock a 4 blade direct fan assembly? Should I go to a direct 5 blade flex fan with a 2.5" spacer to get in the shroud and help the cooling? I am also looking at the water pump backing plate being to far from the impeller. Has anyone done this?
All feedback is welcomed, i just want to get the car to run cooler.
