Hagerty. They have been good to work with, and they use an "agreed value" basis.
Do a search, there have been quite a few threads about this the past couple of years. Other members have listed the companies they work with, as well as any pros and cons.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! I went with American modern Insurance Group. They are about 1/2 the price of hagerty and I heard good reviews and no problem with claims. They also do agreed value.
I had to sentd in photos of the car. There was no issue on the agreed on value that I requested. The site they used to determine what the car was based upon vin number did not code their application well and they thought my car was originally a 6 cyl and they tried to charge me extra for modification but we got it all straight.
Hagerty is avail in Canada as well. I found it to be excellent and very cheap. DO NOT GET an insurer that is not 100% vintage cars or you will get screwed. Normal everyday carriers don't have a clue what the cars are worth. You must have a value agreed to by the insurer and yourself before signing.
I also use Hagerty, no claims. Been pretty happy with them. Some of the companies want to limit your use of the car to basically car shows and return, some limit mileage to about 2500 miles per year. Do your homework. Cal
Hagerty on my 69. I think 25K value. I'll have to look again what the premium is. Have had one claim on the wife's Tbird and they were great. One thing I would suggest is to get it thru a local agent if you can just so you can work out any issues instead of spending time on the phone or the computer.
So I jumped on your link for American Collectors for the heck of it. I entered all my info and numbers matching what I have for Hagerty.
Their emailed quote has "rejected" listed under collision, and an annual quote of $37.00 for my car.
No clue what's going on there, but I'd be wary of American at this point...
I don't have time to call them to discuss.

Jumped over to the Better Business Bureau site. Interesting...
Hagerty had 2 complaints shown in the past three years. American Collector's had 1 complaint in the past three years. But American Modern had 87 complaints in the past three years. Says 23 of them have been 'closed'.
Kind of skewed results... Makes you think though. I don't know what kind of volume these companies have, so hard to directly correlate.

Yes it is hard to compare because American modern does a lot more then collected car. They do trailers, homes, motorcycle and watercraft. They also have a lot more agents.
Came up with $739 verses my current $769 from Hagerty. I guess I'll stick with Hagerty. Not worth the $30 to switch.

I used HAG for 5 years but after really bad customer service when It was time to renew the policy I gave up on them. Bonus was AM is $113 cheaper for the same coverage and it was a pleasure to set up the policy.

What happened? I do all my stuff online without even talking to anyone. I even upped coverage a few times as my restos progressed. All handled online and by email.

One reason I suggest getting a local agent that handles Hagerty. Just in case you need some face time. Usually a lot easier to iron out any misunderstandings that way. Had three cars with them. Have dropped my son's Tbucket cause it doesn't get driven. It was the most expensive of the bunch because they listed it as modified. Can you believe it? Titled as a 1923 Model T and just because it's got a small block Chevy with zoomies, a jag rear end and a beer keg for a gas tank. Man, what are they thinking? Had one claim with them and they handled everything with the claim against Farmers. Went very smooth.
American Collectors since 1998. 30k value $250a year / $50 deductible. Have never made a claim so I do not know how well work on paying?
Are you on the lowest miles policy that prevents you from driving to work? When I compare apples to apples with Hagerty, I got a quote that was about 55.00 higher than Hagerty because I told them I wanted to drive it to work on occasion. Had I chose the other policy, it would have been 35.00 cheaper, but what if I get hit in the lot or something at work- then I'm screwed..

One thing that makes a difference is American Modern has roadside assistance built in which provides 200 for each occurrence for road side assistance and towing. You seem to have to increase Hagertys to the High-Octane Plan
When I do, American Modern is 359.00 vs Hagerty 514.00 with both 0 deductible.
If I just choose Hagerty standard Roadside Service it is 419.00 .
Maybe the included roadside assistance is a bonus for American modern but they do not compare apples for apples. American Modern is Max $200 for tow and Haggerty High-Octane Plan is max 150 miles. I don't know how that compares.
Both allows you to choose mileage driven and how you want to drive it.

Yes, my prices included the 'free' roadside assistance and towing. And keep in mind the $769 is for four cars' coverage. So about $192 per car. Seems cheap when you look at it that way.

Just curious what you guy's mileage terms with Hagerty are and how is it monitored (if at all)?
I just threw my 68 onto my State Farm bundle when I bought it a few months ago. Now sorting out what's the best plan. Thinking of switching to Hagerty.
Hagerty has a mileage limit, but they don't track it so no idea how that would be handled. I'm sure if you said 2k per year and the odometer said 10k when you totaled it, you'd be SOL.
I think you can pick 1000 or 2000 miles per year.
I gave them my odometer reading seven or eight years ago when I agreed to 2k per year, but some years I've only put a couple hundred miles on, so I have some slop built in there. You do not need to report odometer each year.

Businesses log your OD every time you get service (oil chg).
I would never take one of my 'birds to any kind of service station for anything.
I use a personal friend / mechanic for that. Youngsters would have no clue how to work on these old cars.
Therefore, no logging of anything with mileage for me.

Interesting twist: I have State Farm for everything, house, cars, life, etc. Plus I have a fairly decent umbrella liability policy with them.
I originally insured the Firebird with SF when I bought it because it was quick and easy, thinking i'd figure out the best carrier later.
Well it turns out that if I want to go with Hagerty, or someone else for the bird (or any other car), my premium for the umbrella policy would go up by $500/yr. As the agent explained, if there is potentially another insurance co involved in an umbrella liability claim then it's more expensive for SF to coordinate with other lawyers, etc. Which I guess makes sense.
That said, they are charging me $225/yr for $30k agreed value. Grilled my agent extensively on the terms (per all the Hagerty discussions) and I was satisfied. Hagerty was about $400 iirc.
