Bronze Bird, I thought it was you last week at the Hammond Square mall cruise (2nd sat of the month) as there was Bronze 68 there.... not a vert though. Do you ever go to the hammond or covington shows?

Saleguy01: No. I've not been to the Hammond show...didn't even know about it. I'll have to check it out since I'm only 20 miles away.
RE JohnnyMac: I've had lunch with him twice in KC. He's a fun guy. The last time, he had just lost a bet to one of his kids, and he had to let them shave his head! Hilarious!!

Jim (FBody69) "The Effeminate One" always whining about politics...and whining when he didn't get his way..
Terry (69Firebirdman) "The Grouch" He and I NEVER got along...until one day in 2007 he called me up and we talked for HOURS...after that, we were tight. Hell, I even have a package and a letter I got from him soon before he passed away. It contains something, something for a Firebird most likely...never opened it, never will.
Doug Rustin (D.Rustin) I miss his piss poor use of apostrophes on pluralized items. Especially piston's and rod's.
Those were the days where we pushed the boundaries of decorum, taste, patience, class, maturity. That is when we stirred the pot..nobody was harmed, but yet. You do not see Vikki (Yellowbird) on here anymore...I believe the former is due to the politics...same as myself. I LOVE a good banter and love to argue and fight. Just wasn't worth the aggravation to scan, copy, email, share, dig up, measure, research....then getting a little chin music for a bit of political disharmony.
Anyhow...off my soap box. I also miss Johnny Mac...he and I didn't see eye to eye for the longest..and he sent me a PM and we buried the hatchet..I thought and felt that was the coolest based on the circumstance.

Hillary for prez? Don't you have to at least like the person your voting for or is it just a "hair and a hole" thing? nuk nuk nuk
Like the character in GENERATION:KILL says "It's all about the pussy!"
She wont be getting my vote.. I just think the media will play her to win like they did Obama. Can you imagine a FHRITP interruption on live tv? Ha
Actually I think the media is being nice now in order to lure her in. Once she joins the race ... gloves come off. I like Bill and HC is very smart and knowledgeable but she just does not pass the likability test.
What would be nice is a Palin body with a HC brain.
No, but could you share some pics of your car? Sounds like some nice combinations...
I'm afraid all my pics are in deep storage, just like the car. The few digital pics I have are on a hard drive somewhere, all the rest are prints/slides. Somewhere in my papers I have a bunch of slides I took of the car in 1981 when I bought it. Everything was original except the tires and the filters, plugs etc. I promise to post those slides as soon as I get back to the world of Firebird. Just wanted to see what was going on here after so many years. Nice to see all the familiar names. Sorry to hear that Bjorn no longer likes beer.
"Banshee is the last one around here that actually knows something about cars."
I'm sure Banshee appreciates the comment, and likely the most reliable source for First gen bird info... but thats just not true. There's a wealth of knowledge available on this sight. Hell, I even think I've become pretty F'n astute over the last 10 years working on my 'bird (of course it helps when 2 of your older brothers are proffessional mechanics, one having owned a '68 LeMans, with a combined 90 years of experience). I usually know when to say "when", and ask for guidance.
I really need spell check.

LOL!! I want to be the new Grumpy Dwarf, carrying on Terry's spirit. I really enjoyed the old guy. I spoke to him a few times. Once, he found me a dipstick tube for a TH400. Charged me $45 delivered. That in itself tells you the kind of guy Terry was. That is an unobtainable part.
RE Fbody69: He was OK most of the time, but one of those people who always had to be right...even when he was so obviously wrong, and often juvenile. It was quite entertaining to "watch" Banshee and Yellowbird spar with him.
Amervo is always fun. I wish he'd post more often>
Jon Alvy?Nashbird: WTF? Where the hell are you? I had dinner with he and his wife a few years back...great time..
RossettiJ: Had lunch with him in NEw Orleans...another good guy who has dissappeared.
It's just not nearly as much fun when everybody agrees with everyone else.
Yellowbird is a [censored]!!!!! (think that'll get her back?) I'll gladly accept the repremand.

all I can say , is like Mark Twain , the rumors of my demise are excaggerated...I still do like beer , esp. Shiner!
The political discussions were/are still good in my opinion.....but only as long as everybody agrees with me! lol (that's usually everybody`s take on that subject )...and you can add in Global Warming aka Climate change too.....I just hope one day these people will actually wake up.

Collectively we all know an awful lot about our birds and in most cases conspire to provide good answers and advice to those looking for info. Banshee is the last one here with a bird encyclopedia in his head.
I am the "family idiot savant" according to the family.
When it comes to Birds..I can inspect a 67 or 68 without a book, notes, manual...and tell within a great degree of certainty what is incorrect, what is major, minor, and whether the asking price is in line...or better yet, what the car should be worth...or better yet, what I would pay retail.
It is a passion...an art..an obsession. I may not know electrical, carb tuning, rear end angle set up, degreeing a cam as well as other guys here on the board, but hey...we can't be proficient everywhere. That's what makes the site so great!
A few know the Firebird A few know transmissions A few know cooling issues A few know electrical A few know suspension A few know engine specs/tuning
That cohesiveness is what makes FGF a user friendly and orientated site.
By the way, coming to ya'll soon...a very fun Q and A session with pictures called "NAME THAT PART"
I have always wanted to have a section or a database of bolts, nuts, fasteners, linkage....etc for the restorer. Many different bolts, threads...applications..all 67-69 specific.
Would be a good reference point for guys restoring cars with correct or incorrect parts that want to restore to concours...or just plain [censored] correct.

That's a great idea and looking forward to it! With your knowledge base I'm sure the parts will be challenging to identify
I believe it would be a great idea to have a database of pics of just general "crap" so to speak..nuts, bolts, fasteners, diagrams, correct routing of wiring, correct type of tape used to wrap harnesses, correct bolts for water pumps, timing covers, vacuum lines. Including correct percentage of gloss for various parts of the Bird..heater box, cowl, subframe, firewall, inner fenders...etc. Just a large spreadsheet of EVERYONE'S knowledge based on substianted information from GM manuals.
Essentially, a user orientated/contributed reference site whereas the data is compiled into one area for reference and can be accessed.
Bronze Bird tore apart his car...forgot where a specific set of 5 bolts he failed to label go. Pics in the database plus all applicable applications are shown.
It is easy to take 200 bolts and nuts from a car for a resto...even harder after 2-3 years to remember how and where they go.

You forgot 68tpls400- he doesn't have enough birds He is an old timer here as well and has helped many guys out with questions through the years. (myself included)
What will it take to get Vicki back? Any suggestions anyone?

I correlate her absence here as similar to how I feel about the drama and bullshit on Facebook.
It's nice in the beginning...connect with friends..something new...exciting. Then throw a few jackwipes in the mix that contribute somewhat, yet detract more than they contribute.
Then I began to block friends on Facebook who whine about [censored], complain, tell everyone where they are at, doing, feeling, asking for prayers, thoughts, advice.
To each his own...nothing wrong with any of that.
Essentially, one gets tired of things...the hobby, the expense, the drama.
Vikki gave hell of a lot more than she EVER received. I know that first hand. It's tough taking time out of your day to appease the masses only to be labeled a messiah so to speak by the masses. In the end, she was giving, taking away from her interests, her life, her family. Sure, it's nice to be lauded for effort, information, advice...but in the end, one ends up empty and unfulfilled.
My comments are not reflective specifically to Vikki, but I speculate I am mostly correct on my theory.

Is that why I never see your FB posts any longer Tom! I don't whine, complain, ask for prayers, thoughts, I may say where I am at and a few where to go....but...
Never mind, just searched and did see one from you last week or just before.....
I agree with your observations tho, and Bronzeballs thanks for stir up...
Jim is growing legal bud in Michigan last I heard....
That's funny, I haven't been on here in a long time, only to log in and find this thread.
To bad about yellowbird, I always thought she was a class act. Terry was great to me on a couple of occasions, my Bird is part Terry.
Except for the global warming stuff I never got to much into the political stuff. There has never been a better site though for guys/gals willing to help each other out. I even found my current Bird on here.
Premium-member thing is new too. I wouldn't mind kicking in.
(standing on the sidelines watching and listening) I know that I would have never been able to get my car to where it is today without the folks on this site.
It's the people updating 7 times a day on Facebook that irritates me...not the hey..check out something cool post...its the incessant posts that people LIVE AND BREATHE Facebook. What ever happened to getting together and working on [censored]? Seems humanity is dumbing itself down with social media.

Modern society in a single statement. Who gives a [censored] if you're sippin' a pina colada at Trader Vic's. There are some things we just don't need or want to know. Keep your trivial bullshit to yourself. This has happened in this very forum in recent past...excessively...Poor pitiful me...LOOK WHAT I BOUGHT!!!...LOOK WHAT MY FRIENDS GAVE ME...I'm so poor and abused...all from the same individual.

I`ve always hated those people that cannot stay away from their phones when you meet up...8 guys meet with their cars...then 6 of them playing with their phones...why did they show up in the first place??
