I've seen a few list that state the intake manifold casting number for a 67 , 400. Checking to see if mine is correct, I think it is.
My intake number is 9786286. Some list state it's 67 GTO intake, but they don't list a 67 Firebird at all. Another list states 67 326/400/428, 4-BBL = 9782896.
There can be some confusion as there is the issue of CASTING numbers vs PART numbers and manifolds for Carter carbs vs QJets. Manifold PART numbers are near the bottom of the 1st attachment under Section 3.265
According to this factory listing, correct PART number is 9786285, same as Pontiac 400 and 428 4bbl's and Tempest 400 4bbl which would have been a GTO.
This listing has that 6286 casting number as you state above:
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
Well so another case of misinformation or typo's. I know my car is pretty much number matching Engine is WZ 400, 4sp, 670 heads, correct carb. and dist. I was just looking a few list that I haven't seen before.
I am trying to verify that casting numbers differ from part numbers for cast items by 1 digit. I could not find that anywhere but I have a dim memory that is the case.
Our resident expert, Banshee, would be the guy to PM all of your numbers to verify they are correct. And date codes.
