The new kit I purchased has 3 ground straps. I have one going from lower firewall pass side to subframe, and one other going from firewall to back of pass head. What is the proper location for the 3rd strap?

Not sure what year you have but the 68 service manual under accessories radio suppression shows a ground strap from the firewall to the back of each head. http://thefirstgensite.com/library/68sm/acc/acc.html. Fig 15-39 All the topics here suggest there were only two installed in the location you installed them in.

Harold is right we need to know the year, if you look into the 67 manual Firebird ( pg 15-6 radio suspression) had 3 straps, each side of the rear of the heads to firewall and the battery ground went to the right front head.
