Does anyone have the part number for an internally regulated alternator that would have been on a 69. My car does not have an external regulator and I have been running a later model buick alternator. I would like to put the right alternator on the car but I can only find numbers for the external regulated ones for a/c and non a/c cars.
I have a 69 400 4spd with a/c built in Oct 69. Any help or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks, Ron
Well I was wrong. According to Hemmings, Corvettes and Pontiac Firebirds with 400 engines got the 35 amp 10-SI alternators in 69-70. They were standard an all in 1971 but available in higher amp ratings.
Are you sure it wasn't converted over from an internally regulated to an SI some time in the past? Everywhere else says the Corvette was the only car in 69 to have an SI alternator, other cars started in 70-71 and most were standard by 73. The Firebird wiring diagram shows an externally regulated alternator.
My 69, 400 automatic with a/c is a 10A built car and it is internally regulated. I was trying to put my hands on my PHS documents. I t may have made mention of the alternator and the package that it was a part of.
