So my original regulator won't hold a stable voltage...tried adjusting it, cleaning the contacts, all a no go.
Where are we getting good quality replacements from these days. I've seen the Delco professional series ones for $50 or 60$ on Ebay, Rock Auto also has them.
I just purchased this same voltage regulator and I have a few questions.
I was tracking down a current draw that was draining my battery, and after removing all fuses and measuring draw the culprit seemed to be the voltage regulator. I got the new one and went to install it and still seem to have some current draw (much less than before) and I want to confirm a few things.
There appears to be 3 mounting holes, although my old one only had two bolts on it, one of which had a rubber grommit. Is the grommit for insulation from the body, or just vibration dampening? The bolts that hold it on would be currently grounding it. Secondly it looks like someone drilled into the metal base, and ran a short ground wire to the metal body work. Trying to make sure that is not standard, or needed.
What is the correct mounting details? I have the four wire plug connector on the side, and the single (looks to be a ground) plug on the bottom, does the regulator need to be insulated from other body contact? This is on a 67 sprint by the way.
I have new electronic ones for sale @ $35.00 shipped more reliable than the old contact ones that are available , Delco cover fits right on top , appearance is the same as OEM .
