Hey Everybody, Just put on a disc brake conversion with 2" drop spindles on the 69 Bird. Rode great on the interstate, but my local road is very wavy and found out that the tires rubbed a lot. I am running 225 50R 17s on 7" rims on the front and am wondering what other folks may be running that experienced the same problem. Easy solution is to change tires, not so easy is to switch to 1" drop. Comments? Thanks!
I'm running 245/45R17 tires in front I have a 2 in drop via springs. No rub issues here. When I installed springs it was a bit too low almost tucked the whole top of the tire. I put global west spring spacers In and it got it Just right. My rub was at the top of the wheel well. Where are you rubbing?
Hello Goose919, I just took a quick peek last night and both sides had a 4 - 5" long strip of rubber right at the top of the inside of the chrome trim around the front wheel wells.
I only mentioned isolators in your other post but yes Isolators/spacers (same thing) will be the ticket to getting your front end up. Sorry for confusion
