I have decided to bite the bullet and tackle the t.s. switch replacement. I have lost all power to the rr brake and turn signals. Working on a '67 4 speed. I am a little confused by the different descriptions for the replacement switches. Year One offers 2 switches, and "aftermarket" and a "reproduction". That's it for description. Advance Auto has one listed for automatic, floor shift. O'Reilly has two; the same one AA has and a second Delco unit. The Delco unit says it is for manual transmission, column shift. In addition, the O'Reilly site says that another harness connector may be required.
Anyone with a 4 speed change out their t.s. switch? What did you use? Any tips for removal & installation? Thanks, Cal
I haven't changed one but, are you sure it's the switch? Do your front right indicators work? There is a connector going to the rear harness that could be a problem and the connector at the switch itself. And, forgive me for asking, but did you swap out the bulbs?
Thanks for responding Bluebird, "Reasonably" sure of a bad switch. I went through all of the different types of testing that I could do. Even went so far as to run a ground wire directly from the battery to the light sockets. No power to the rear at all. That was this morning. This afternoon I picked up the switch from O'Reilly and replaced it. The problem is now "almost" fixed. I have tail lights. I have stop lights. I have directional lights. I have 4 way flashers. The instrument panel indicators work. I say "almost", because when the light switch is on (either parking lights or full head lamps) both of the panel indicators are lit up. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Cal
Cal H. I've been following this thread. How did you fix the poor ground. I broke that wire above the high beam indicator. I replaced it with a regular wire. But after I installed everything, the instrument lights has never been the same. Some bulbs are not working which used to work before the breakdown. I tried to search for this wire everywhere but I couldn't find it.
