Does anybody know if it´s okay to powder coat an air-cleaner? I have a 68 (former GTO) 400-4 BBL one-snorkel air-cleaner assembly who needs some detailing. And as usual I try to do it in a manner it will survive the next three generations...
So first I was thinking of bead blasting, epoxy coating and painting in high gloss black, then I got the idea of powder coating (and as most of my ideas it´s the more expensive way...). But more expensive isn´t always better so I tried to figure if it´s a good idea.
Two questions come to mind: 1. Will the powder coating stand the engines heat? 2. Will it look as glossy as the original?
your wasting your time powder-coating that item, it would last a long time under the hood with regular paint. If it doesn't look up to your standards in a couple or years, just repaint it
