Does anybody know if it´s okay to powder coat an air-cleaner? I have a 68 (former GTO) 400-4 BBL one-snorkel air-cleaner assembly who needs some detailing.
And as usual I try to do it in a manner it will survive the next three generations...

So first I was thinking of bead blasting, epoxy coating and painting in high gloss black, then I got the idea of powder coating (and as most of my ideas it´s the more expensive way...).
But more expensive isn´t always better so I tried to figure if it´s a good idea.

Two questions come to mind:
1. Will the powder coating stand the engines heat?
2. Will it look as glossy as the original?

What do you think about?

i'd just paint it with high temp gloss black.

your wasting your time powder-coating that item, it would last a long time under the hood with regular paint. If it doesn't look up to your standards in a couple or years, just repaint it
