Are there anyone who can identify this label . It´s on the windscreen . I think it says “ New Jersey “ The Car has it’s first register dat in Sweden 1973 05 28 . Is it some sort of shipping nr or permission to be at the Harbour but no longer than July 31 1973 then it “Expires” . The car has been sleeping in different garages for 16 Years so it´s possible that this is the same windscreen as it had in the US Tommy

Could be a port permit, but someone from NJ can probably verify it... I think it possibly could be the registration sticker (tax) for New Jersey ( similar the one you put in the middle on the rear on the license plate in Sweden),its usually stuck on left side of windshield ( here in Texas, bottom center in Virginia, could be right side in NJ???looks like its right side in pic..), it would have an expiration date , for one year at a time...so , its very likely the windshield the car had in the US.
Is it possible to be a safety inspection sticker or certification sticker. Here in NB we have an annual motor vehicle inspection which under guide lines set by the provincial government to allow vehicles to be driven on the road safely.
That’s a piece of history? Isn’t it? Maybe I’ll keep it just for fun. I mean how many has this left from -73. The funny thing is that when driving the car, you don’t even take notice of it. Bjorn what’s the serial number for, is it just a "löpnummer" or is it connected to the owner or something. Would be very interesting to get to know the first or at least one owner when the car "lived" in the US

It's definately a safety inspection sticker. I lived in New Jersey when I was a kid and remember those well. I moved to Ohio in 1971. If a cop pulled you over and gave you a safety inspection, you got a sticker. That saved you from being inspected again. In New York now we all get yearly inspections and safety stickers.
Tommy , the "serial number" would be the VIN number , the number on your vin plate on the dash top at the windshield, drivers side ...(at least on a 69) the car was probably inspected in 73 some time, then sold ,shipped to Sweden....and they just left it there...
The serial number is to ID that the inspection sticker matches the vehicle, there probably is a inspection report paper with the vehicle owner info as well as vehicle VIN,plate #,sticker serial #.The inspections here work the same way,we have report to fill out with owner`s name and address, vehicle VIN and plate#,Type and model of vehicle, and inspection sticker serial #.
The NJ cops just handed you a sticker on the side of the road after the inspection. The Ser# on the sticker won't correspond to anything except the paperwork the cop had.
