Does anyone know what FORD model/year or part number of tail light socket the first generation Firebird's use? My plastic sockets are horrible. Would love the hard wired ground.
Sorry for the old bump, but I'm sure this information will benefit future readers.
My OEM style tail light sockets were constantly falling out or losing ground.
I found quite a bit of discussion about an all metal Ford/Mopar or Ford/Chrysler style socket, but no mention of the applicable years.
Today I bought Dorman 85860, which has an all metal body for grounding and has two wires for the 1157 type bulb. I found it at O'Reilly.
While I'm not sure what year/models the 85860 is for, it works flawlessly. It sits tight in the tail lamp housing, and grounds much better than the plastic OE style housing.
I did this 15 -16 years ago , I think...do not recall the Ford numbers, but yes I installed Ford metal sockets, hardwired ground to ea one, never had a problem with them falling out after that.....it was actually a bit hard to pull them out....sonds like you found the same parts I used...
