WOW. This is a stumper. I'm assembling the nosecone, and the Left and Right (*marked with L and R) headlight bodies simply will not line up with the holes on the main rounded piece. Sorry for the janky descriptions, but I dont have a body manual. The 2 bodies will line up when you reverse them, L to R and R to L. The problem is that the 2 bodies mounting bolts are 1/4 " different , so when you offer the part up to the main cross brace, they will not line up, unless they are reversed. I have checked and triple checked everything that I could be doing wrong- I simply cannot figure out why they fit backwards but not in the proper LR configuration...any help on this would be highly appreciated!!!!
Can you post photos? I think you are talking about the headlight buckets, the round parts that hold the headlights? If so, they are different for both the low and high beams and only fit 1 way (R & L, low & high).

Could it be left and right while looking at the car from the front and not left and right of the car itself? Left being the passenger side and not the drivers?
Should be pretty straight forward. Providing you use the part marked L on the drivers side, I would make sure that neither the headlight fixtures nor the radiator support are bend. If everything looks good, get the bolts started and see where you end up.
I have a bunch of pictures from when I rebuilt my '68 front bumper assembly but have no idea how to post here. Would be more than happy to e-mail them.

Buckets were completely disassembled, blasted and powder coated. I reused the original Nylon adjuster nuts with Dorman Help adjuster screws #42119. Springs and mounting tabs were riveted back on using Hillman solid rivets sourced from my local Ace Hardware. Rivets were center drilled before setting. Worked well. Finally, square style clip nuts sourced through McMaster-Carr #90680A135. $10 for a pack of 25 pcs.
One additional thought. I thought I'd need to reference the pictures for assembly. What I found was if you place the headlights in the buckets, then bucket orientation to mounting plate becomes obvious. They only fit one way.
