I recently purchased Legendary rear seat upholstery #AA67GFS0048100G for my '68 coupe with fixed position rear seat. Part number and description on box label seems correct but seat cover is 4-5" shorter than the seat! My upholstery guy, someone who does a lot of vintage car interior work, called me and said something is not right. He believes it may be for a convertible. I did not have the opportunity to contact Legendary or the distributor I purchased the upholstery from today. Can someone tell me if the rear seat is shorter for a convertible or maybe a fold down rear seat? Seat cover looks perfect, just too short???
Firebird standard and deluxe rear seats are all the same. Coupe and convertible are also the same, as is fold down (size wise). Now the interesting thing is that 'Maro rear seat for deluxe is the same as firebird, but 'Maro standard rear seat is 4" narrower. Me thinks they used the wrong pattern, or you somehow ended up with standard size 'Maro covers. Does your 'bird have standard or deluxe interior?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Mine is a standard interior. Hmmm... Interesting. I never would have guessed the Camaro standard seat would be narrower. I'm thinking I got the right box with the wrong cover in it.
Maybe the latter, I didn't have any trouble with my set of Legendary seat covers. But my upholstery guy actually likes the PUI stuff better.

It is the other way around. The Camaro deluxe is the same as Firebird, and the Camaro standard is wider, as thay don't have the arm rest

Do you have arm rest with ash trays in the back? If not, someone could have put a standard Camaro rear seat in it. And that could be the problem your having
Thanks everyone for the response. I had no idea there were different back seats in F bodies! After talking with the folks at both Legendary and Jeff at NPD, (cover distributor...) the Firebird rear seat weighs in at 48" long and the Camaro at 53" long. And Wade is correct, 'Birds have wider quarter panel trim due to the armrests/ashtrays resulting in narrower seats than Camaros. Jeff at NPD was great, evidently does a lot of upholstery work himself and called my guy directly. Customer service doesn't get better than that! As of now, I think I have the right cover. Evidently the Legendary covers need to be stretched quite a bit to fit. Might be why some upholstery guys like PUI better? I don't know, it's my first experience with seat covers. Anyway, my guy is going to give it another shot and we'll see what happens. I'll post the result.
