Hoping someone here with an original '69 FB can give me a couple measurements off their tail panel..the restoration of mine is moving along, have replaced the rear frame rails, inner and outer wheelhouses, both quarters and inner and outer tail panels..working on fitment and panel gaps now so I can weld/bond everything into it's final place. Everything looks great and much to my surprize very minimal modification has been needed to get the repro parts to fit with one exception...the outer tail. After many, many trial fits of the passenger side quarter the gap between the trunk lid and quarter is off by about 5/8-9/16's of an inch. It's in the proper position, all other areas line up and look correct. My thoughts are the repro tail is bigger than OEM and before I modify it to fit correct I could use some help with the measurements of the original panel, and of course I already scrapped the one that was on it..but it was in horrible shape to begin with.
Sorry to ramble on..if someone could measure theirs and post the numbers I would greatly appreciate it. whatever is easiest to provide is fine with me just tell me where to where, but if possible please include the length of the panels first ridge below the tail lights..the raised part that lines up to the quarter ridge. Also any inside measurements would help, but overall length numbers are what I'm looking for.
I think mine is original. I measured the tail panel on the outside from quarter panel crease line to crease line where the quarter curves around to meet the tail panel. I get 63 7/8 " so i'm guessing it should be 64 ". I hope that helps. Doug
