Have 67 that I'm installing grant steering wheel on Problem is with post cover. Before I get shaft nut tight cover hits column housing . Is there an adjustment to lower housing to clear cover.
I don't know if this is your issue but once when removing a steering wheel I had to hit the steering wheel puller with a hammer to break it free. This collapsed the shaft inside the housing and the steering wheel hit the housing after. I was able to pull the shaft back out again with a slide hammer. Hope this helps. Neill
Same here - 67 with a Grant wheel. Despite mounting it on a new Flaming River aftermarket column - I had exactly the same problem.
I had to very carefully place that cap over the center of a grinding wheel on by bench grinder and take some of the material off. Grind a small amount off, test fit, and repeat.
