Hey Everyone-

So I'm new to this, and sort of a novice when it comes to car repair but here is my issue. I have a 68 Bird. Tuesday I start the car and it starts up then kills right away (which is normal for this car) but then it wouldn't start again....Completely dead. Lights go on just fine. I jump the car and it fires right up. Later that night I drive it around a little bit and it starts without any problems...I'm thinking cool maybe just a fluke.

Today (Friday) I go out there, same thing she starts on first time kills. Then she won't start again. Any ideas what this could be? The battery is new but I suppose I could have it tested. Alternator? Is the starter fine since it has no problem starting the first time? I'm at a little bit of a loss here. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

Sounds like the car doesn't run for a long enough period to get hot. So I would check two things
1. is the timing too far advanced? that will cause very hard starting.
2. Are all the terminals on the battery and starter clean? Dirty contacts can cause this problem too. Good luck!

Local O'Reilly stores have a meter they can hook up to your alternator and battery to check them. Its free, you just have to ask. Sounds like an alternator or charging issue to me.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
