I'm looking for an engine as a present for my dad's 1967 Firebird. I am not very familiar with cars or engines but I will give you the basics of what i know and hopefully someone can help me out! The car is a Sprint convertible that came with a specific build code on the engine, i believe the code was available on the Firebird and the Tempest. The engine I am looking for is a 6 Cylinder Overhead Cam with a "ZD" build code. I am not sure if they are hard to find or maybe even impossible to find, but if anyone here has one or could point me in the direction of where i might be able to find one, i would appreciate it! He has been looking for this particular engine for a long time but he isn't very internet savvy so i thought i would sneak in and try to help him out as a surprise.
He got the car in high school (umpteen years ago!) and his cousin that owned a wrecking yard accidentally crushed the engine block when it was supposed to be getting repaired (twenty years ago). Don't ask me how that happened, all i know is that my dad STILL holds a grudge against him. Thank you for any information you can give me, it would mean a lot to him and I both if we could track a good one down.
These are very difficult to find, I would suggest alsi inquiring at the Performance Years site to ensure a wider audience.

I have a 69 sprint engine. Also a 3 speed trans that went with it. I have the 4 barrel carb and air cleaner also. Phx area
I have two 68 Firebirds: 68 convertible ls2, auto 4L60E, red interior, white/black power top. I have owned since 1971. 2) 68 coupe, aqua/white tope. aqua interior, 350 4 speed. I am restoring this car and it will be for sale. Before paint or after.
Have you found an engine and transmission? I just removed the engine and transmission from my '68 Sprint. It ran fine when I pulled it out. It does require a rebuild though.
That motor is not a Sprint. It clearly has a 1bbl manifold and carb in the second picture. Although a Sprint could be built from that engine it would take a lot of work and you would need to find ALL of the Sprint parts to get it there.
