I am just confirming from viewing PHS docs that there was no option for a firebird rear spoiler. I have seen these but assume they were aftermarket from the Camaro? Right or wrong?

'Maro only. And don't believe a word out of Bjorn's mouth about them making your car go faster!
Like they say in AA.... "Please don't put 'Maro parts on your 'bird"...

Some like them, some don't. They were an option on Camaros and fit the Firebird.
Why is the spoiler so controversial while non-stock wheels, valve covers, Holley carbs, aluminum radiators, and aftermarket radios draw no comments?
Because they scream Camaro and many think they were a Firebird option. It would probably garner less attention if they weren't a Camaro option. Firebird = not a Camaro, the spoiler creates confusion.
FWIW, I've put none of the above on my cars...to each their own however.

Mine came with one on it when I bought it, I do like the look but it does not allow for the "Pontac" lettering and it also doesn't show people why they are stuck behind me "400" badging

well, it will NOT make the car go faster...but the spoilers will make it better handling , especially the front "snowplow"...will push your front tires to the ground at higher speeds...you will feel the difference if at 80 mph or faster....only the rear spoiler will make the car handle less..it will push rear down = front up... and you CAN add your 400 emblem to the rear of the rear spoiler (I did)...yes ,its a Camaro part added to your Firebird...but it is 'performance' enhancing....IF you like the better handling...just as wider tires etc will enhance the original design...IF you only drive slow or only take it to shows to have an "original" car..do NOT add these...
IF you do add them , do it as a set, front AND rear...or only do front....only rear is not good!

Unless you add the lettering and badge to the spoiler...
My bird came with a spoiler and I installed the PONTIAC lettering and badge. Eventually, I will remove the spoiler, fill the holes in the trunk, and put the lettering and badge on the trunk where they belong.

Good man!

Maybe Craig will buy the rear spoiler for one of his flock. My good Pontiac friend has been trying to talk me into a rear spoiler since I bought the car. He likes Pontiacs for the most part original but really likes the spoilers. I think the Pontiac letters and the 400 badge look better. If I'm going to change from original it is going to be upgrades to brakes, steering, suspension, exhaust, and OD transmissions to name a few.

1. Is he really a good friend? 2. Perhaps a GTO guy rather than Firebird guy? Or a second gen guy rather than the much cooler and interesting First Gens?

do NOT just add a rear spoiler ...it goes together with the front spoiler...adding just rear will lift front end at higher speeds (as it pushes down on rear)...you need the front one more than the rear (these are not for 'looks', they are for handling...if anything better to just add front and leave rear off..but both work well together.

I actually saw a guy have the spoiler on the decklid, but he installed it about 3" up from the rear so that he could have the "PONTIAC" badging on his decklid in the original location. It took me quite a while to stop snickering.
I know that washing and waxing my car with the present condtion of my paint is like polishing a turd.....but it's my turd and I want it polished!

I have also seen pictures of fgf's with the trunk 400 badge mounted half way up the deck lid.
Goofier than ever! Let's everyone know how clueless they are regarding what they own.
