Looking for the rod that the parking brake handle connects to for a 68. Can't find as an individual part. Does anyone know where to find one? Need the handle too, but can find them(unless anyone can recommend a specific one?).

Is yours broke off? I should have a complete assembly

Thanks Bill, hopefully I don't need the whole assembly, I can still reach under and release the brake(remembering to hold my foot on the pedal...). And thanks Big chief, may have to go that rout, can find the steel and cut it but not sure if I have the tools to bend it. Also wouldn't I need to thread it for the handle to attach?

I think BigChief thought you meant the brake cable support rod that is under the car that helps holds the cable on the passenger side. That is what picture he is showing.

Saw that after reading the post again.

That rod would be a pita to try and make. You'd be better off replacing the whole assembly. Plus there are different configurations so it would be like winning the lottery if you found the one you needed.

So I'm finding out it looks like you guys are right and I am going to have to shell out for a new assembly. This is dissapointing because the whole assembly is in good shape, just missing rod and handle. Anyone else ever fab'd anything for this? seems like I could find a way to make it work between the factory hole, or the lower latch with the bigger hole. Not trying to jerry rig, just tring to keep $ for budget on more important things. $70+ for a full assembly is tough to take. Bill I may PM you to see what you might have.

If Bill doesn't have what you need I think I got a spare I'd let go for $30. I'd have to look in my pile to make sure..
