Every once once in a while at certain speeds around 45mph and on certain roads I will get this funny hard to describe shake in the front end. I used to have a more up and down shake, and I'm just now realizing that is gone since I swapped out the KYB shocks for the Hotckis Fox shock to match the springs. However once in a while I now have this funny shake that feels more like a side to side shimmy. The whole front suspension is new. Guldstrand mod done. Lee steering box. Every thing is tight.
My thoughts are maybe its just certain roads or could it be from not have the cocktail shakers in the front? I have them in the back just not in the front.

From my research, The cocktail shakers were designed to take vibrations out and dampen the "cowl Shake" that is inherent in Uni-body convertible design.
This usually would cause the windshield to vibrate slightly and distort the view while looking through the glass I don't think they will improve front end shake you are describing.

I knew the cocktail shakers were for dampening the road vibrations this is the first I recall hearing it was for cowl shake. Makes perfect sense.
I will have to pay more attention next time. Would I even be able to tell the difference between a cowl shake and a frond end shake?

I think you would feel the front end but only see the cowl, dash or windshield shake.

X2, driven with them and without...definite side to side cowl shake.

I have an odd shake now and then as well, and have all the cocktail shakers installed. Still haven't figured out what is causing it, so I don't think the shakers have anything to do with it.

This may sound stupid, but depending on tires/caster/camber, you will have this...
I did.. The factory specs are for bias ply tires and will give you poor cornering and freeway wandering when used with wider, modern radials. Don't forget to have the alignment shop use non-factory specs: 0 to .5 negative camber 2.5 or more positive caster ( with power steering 5 degrees would even be OK) 1/16 to 1/8 toe in.
Just my 2 cents.

Drew My car has the guldstrand mod and I used his specs on the front end alignment.
