Hey everybody, I have a 67 project car I'm working on. First goal is to get this thing running and to pass TX state inspection so I can enjoy driving it while I'm fixing her up. The previous owner did a number on this thing, and it's going to need a lot of work. Anyhow, it currently has a fiberglass hood (no hinges) with the pin holes already drilled...and it looks like there was quite a bit of trial and error going on when the holes were drilled. No pins installed on the car however. The hood is literally just sitting there. I have an old set of hood pins I planned on installing until I get a real hood, but none of the pre-drilled holes in the hood line up with any of the existing holes/openings on the car. So, I'm just trying to find out where most people install their front hood pins. If it's too far off from where the current holes are drilled into the hood, I'll just patch up the fiberglass and re-drill.
I'm secretly hoping that the previous owner wasn't crazy, and that I won't have to drill into anything. And I definitely don't want to drill into the car as I have no intention of keeping this hood long-term.
This thing has 4 hood pins, BTW (2 front, 2 back) - what a nightmare. If anyone has a nice 400 steel hood they're looking to get rid of, I would be very interested
Well you have to secure the hood to drive the car, or just remove it. But regarding the state, just register it as an antique vehicle and you do not need an inspection.
