Hello everyone, New member here and having trouble with my new bird. Over at a friends house showing it, and my driver's door refuses to open. The locking button appears to be going up and down although not much, but neither the inside handle or outside button appears to be engaging. Been scouring the internet trying to find info and it seems to be a semi common occurrence with the birds and camaros. I can't seem to find anything about how to remove the door panel for this particular car. Obviously going to be difficult to remove with the door closed but I am confused how to remove the inside door handle.
I have run into this problem on a few first gens, the lock seems to get stuck in between lock and unlock. I have had sucessfully got the latch back to normal working condition by spraying some WD40 down onto the latch from the top of the door with the windows glass rolled all the way down. You should have a straight shot. Then you have to work the door lock up and down a bunch of times and also work the door handle. If you want to remove the door panel to do this you will need the tool to remove the clip from behind the window crank and door handle and also take out all the screws.
Thanks for the info. I played with the handle and the latch a bunch and suddenly the latch would go up and down farther and the door opened. Glad it worked before trying to take the panel off a closed door.
