Anyone like to forward any pictures that they believe are the true correct 6423206 (standard air cleaner) and 6424505 (heavy duty air cleaner) for 1967 firebirds. 326- HO.......................afb 4bbl
I had a previous post requesting pictures from anyone out there whom believes they know what these air cleaners look like. But nothing. I have done extensive investigations and there seems to be some confusion amongst many firebird owners-as to what is in fact correct. An original air cleaner with original decal- will close this mystery.
Come on guys- give me something! thanks claude from downunder
Hi Harold. Thanks for your input. Is that info from the Joe Moore book???????? I am not sure if its infact totally correct................???? Hence why photos of originals will shut this case.................... Anyway, I will have to do some more research. ps: I have read about your resto on another forum.....................been to your site also................... you have done perhaps the best resto I have seen to date..........................your detail and research is brilliant. well done. claude
Yes the book is the Joe Moore book and there is a lot of things wrong. Almost everything has to be confirmed in it. I did not do any research on the 67 so I can not help much.
My understanding- is that 67 HO birds..............namely 326 4bbl engines all had the carter carbs.........AFB
Engine codes: THAT HAD THIS CARB ARE: WC WH--AIR YJ XI----AIR WK WO---AIR YM XO---AIR
afb CARB CODES -4bbl for 1967 326 HO 4234s MANUAL 4245s AIR- MANUAL 4246S-AUTO 4248S-AIR-AUTO
THE QUESTION REMAINS AS PER MY PREIOUS POSTS- (UNANSWERED) NAMELY WHICH AIR CLEANER WAS USED ON THESE CARBS- NOT SO MUCH AS PART NUMBER (AS I HAVE THESE) BUT PICTORIAL EVIDENCE OF EXACTLY WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE. CHEERS CLAUDE
Claude, I have a 66 GTO original intake setup with the shiney pancake air cleaner. The carb is an AFB so I'd bet this is also the setup they used on the non-California HO Firebirds as well. If you would like any pics let me know.
Yes please forward the picture when you can. It just seems the more research I do, the more confusing it gets............... I also reference back to may pictures I have saved over the web over the years of so called "all original" cars and nothing is consistent...............
