Just want to pass along. I bought classic industries ( think they are from Chicago Musclecar) adapter kit to install newer 400 engine into 68 frame and thier brackets are too thick so engine wont go down into brackets. Ended up having to remove drivers side bracket and drilling block. Now engine fits but its 1 and1/2 inches to the passengers side which I found out is correct. Very inportant to know. I was very confused why engine was not centered untill I read on here about that. Thanks. Hopefully this will help someone else.
Many of us were confused by the engine offset. Chevy designed the body for a sbc. Bbc and Pontiac motors require the offset to clear the steering parts
