Does anyone know if the Windows10 upgrade is worth it? After trying to get information from some friends, I am no further ahead. I ans now using Windows 7.
There was a discussion going on over on PY last month. (I couldn't find it to post, must be further back than they keep)
Anyway, about 50% said they loved it, and 50% detested it like the plague.
I am scared to death to upgrade. In my case, 200% of what could go wrong, always does... 'plug and play' NEVER occurs around here.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I took the free upgrade. I loved it up until I got a blue screen of death with an endless loop of Windows trying to repair the issue and restart. Googled the error code and found lots of discussion from people with the same problem with supposed ways to fix it but it was futile. I couldn't even bring it up in safe mode. Had to reformat and reload. But I'm back on Windows 10.
The big advantage IMO is that it will be an active OS for many more years.
The down side is if you have an older computer it may have driver issues trying to install. I was still under support when I did mine and they had to drop the Dell network card driver and put in a manufactures driver.
I like the Win 10 OS better then 8.1 but I still liked the Win7 OS too.
One big complain I have with win10 is how it handles music. You can no longer see the meta data info. Had to download a 3rd party app and it kinda sucks.
Here's some info on the "free" upgrade I tracked down. Be wary of anything "free" especially from Mikrosoft.
you will get upgrades automatically whether you want them or not (you can't turn them off.) All your old system files will be automatically deleted after 30-days. That means if you don't like Windows10 you can't go back to your old system after 30-days because it will have been erased automatically by windows10. If your malware software expires Windows10 will erase it automatically and install Microsofts own version.
I loaded it a few months back.....initially did not like it (as everything new , its not what youre used to), now I think its fine, cant even remember how it was before 10!
just like everything else new, you got to jump in , get ypour feet wet...then its fine....
