1969 Firebird 400 with automatic car won't start in park but will in neutral, if you pull back past N you must go back to park and pull back to N before it will start after it is running put back in park stays running. Question, is the neutral safety switch on shifter in car that needs adjusting or under car on trans how to adjust?

I think 68 was the only year that it was on the console. Yours should be on the steering column. I would check to make sure that your shifter linkage is adjusted correctly first.

There is a bolt that acts like a set screw near the pivot point on the frame bracket. You also might need to make sure the shifter cable is adjusted correctly.

I'd loosen the bolt in the linkage, loosen the bolt on the trans shifter bracket, make sure the shifter is all the way in park, make sure the shifter at the trans is in park, tighten the trans shifter bolt, make sure the steering column is rotated all the way to the left, then tighten the linkage bolt. That should line everything up.
