oh where oh where does one find a 3 ,31/32 water pump? it seems no one carry this part, plus I still don;t know if I did any damage to the engine. if I did looks like it will sit in the garage for some years to come So the search is on. Is there any company in the U.S. that rebuilds these kind of pumps? david
You talking about the short length one? I was about to tell you Ames had them but I just looked at the catalog and it says discontinued. Hmmm You can just use the long one and get the proper pulley and it will work fine.
The pullies for the long snout water pump should be abundant. Check Frank's Pontiac. He's knowledgeable and has a bunch of pullies available. Ames might have them in repop. You only need the water pump pully to go with the long snout pump.
I check for a pulley from different vendors for pricing, there is really no price saving difference from switching from a short hub to the tall hub pump. When u get around to putting all the parts together it comes out to the same price. So I just order a short hub pump with plans on just keeping the old pump as a rebuild core for down the road.
All the national parts stores in the area don't have anything listed in their data base for purchase. One company in the northwest had one listed on ebay. All the internet web sites don't have any. I also looked into having it rebuilt, but the price is the same as was is listed on ebay. But it would take a month to have it done. The price is the same any way u go with. Ebay was the shortest time frame.
