I had issues with my fuel gauge going off when I turned the headlights on. I added a ground wire and that has been fixed. However when I put the emergency brake on and start the car, the generator light comes on full brightness and stays on while the emergency brake light is on but dim. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Somehow when you engage the park brake pedal it's causing a voltage drop in the passenger area electrical system. Either the park brake light circuit has a short to ground or the pedal assembly is contacting part of the wiring harness and grounding a power supply wire or perhaps moving the harness in such a way as to reduce contact in the firewall junction block. The park brake switch is very close to the firewall junction block, it may be touching the block causing a voltage drop.
The only time the generator light comes on is when the voltage at the voltage regulator is higher than the voltage at the dash or when the voltage at the dash is higher than the voltage at the regulator.
