Does anyone know or have a link where I can find out how many convertible sprint firebirds were made? I found my sprint sitting in a garage covered with sheets about 2 years ago and just purchased it from the 2nd owners family. All numbers are matching and I sent off for the history or options from Pontiac history, tells me all my options are correct but does not tell me how many of my car was built. Thanks for any help
It's not possible to precisely tell the numbers especially for the Sprints. All official numbers include the Tempest and Firebird populations. If you Google it you might get a ball park number but that is all. Safe it to say, it isn't a large number especially for the surviving population. There have been many V8 swaps over the past 45+ years.
That's what I was afraid of. Yeah the first thing people say is "well I'd pull that 6 out an put in a 455" . I like the 6 it's spunky with that quad . I'm trying to get it ready for the pigeon forge TN fall rod run next month I will just about bet the title there won't be another one down there and that is a very large 3 day rod show and cruise. Thank you Larry
Very doubtful you will see another, unless it's a Cammer event. It's even hard to find the 1 BBL cars at shows. Very few left out there. Believe it or not, it is easier to find parts these days with the Web. No reason to yank that engine, you have a piece of history.
One more question Larry, I see you have a sprint , I'm going to be driving my sprint about 700 miles round trip in the next two weeks, I'm replacing all water hoses and radiator just for good measure and they are looking weathered, should I replace the timing belt? I don't know if it's ever been changed , the fuel pump seem to be the only object ever replaced on the engine and the car has 89k actual miles. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated
