I have a good friend that's looking for a 68 Bird (prefer coupe) that's Nightshade Green with a 4 spd. Please let me know if you find one in good condition. He's OK with a 350 or 400. He had a 350HO 4 spd coupe several years ago so he's trying to find one similar to it. He prefers mostly stock.
Thank you for your help!

Have a 68 Firebird with the color april gold with green vinal top. 400 auto with ivy gold standard interior. All back to factory specs and the car is bullet proof, I would drive it anywhere. If interested my email is barneyo1950@yahoo.com. I am in the $ 37000.00 range. I have plenty of pictures but can't find a place here to post them.

Nightshade green is a very tall order...almost impossible to find in original condition. Quite a number of 68's with less desirable/outdated colors and after changing hands were repainted. Over 30 years, I have only seen maybe 40 painted such color. From what I remember, quite a high percentage were 6 cylinders and 2 bbl 350's.
May want to consider a Firebird with a solid body that needs repaint.
I had a Linden Green 67 numbers matching 400 that I sold 10 years ago...only 400 I have ever seen in that color until one came up for sale on Ebay last summer. Been looking for that trim tag color since and regret selling it. In person, it is sharp.

I agree with you Banshee! However, my buddy really wants a 68 that came out of the factory as Nightshade Green. He had a 350HO 4 speed coupe this color in his late teen/early 20s and really loved it. His was stolen so he never really let it go.

I understand...I have been collecting 67-68's since 86 and again, your friends desire is a rare unicorn. Add a 350 HO 4 speed or even a 400 and you are talking about a car so rare to find for sale, that I would not even attempt. As I said prior, the color for one, is a small percentage of 18 colors offered that year...then add the 350 HO 4 speed...even rarer after 48 years.
Appears this isn't only about finding the color...It is all about finding the V code on the cowl tag AND a 350 or a 400 AND that is for sale. Unfortunately, that is a head shaker that even I would not dare take on.
Since the advent of the internet, I browse 67'8's for sale just about every week...just to see what is out there and possibly finding my unicorn. I have documented over 4800 67-8 Firebirds since 1998 that were advertised for sale or seen on the side of the road. Best recollection, 30-40 were Nightshade as advertised and does NOT include verification of V coded 68's that were repainted another color or the seller didn't respond to a request for Cowl plate tag data.
I will find one for a finders fee...I have quite a few contacts nationwide. I provide documentation and inspection of 67-68's only for potential buyers who require an assessment of a vehicle. I have also located specific cars for a fee. The fee varies based on time, effort and through numerous contacts. You can spend 10 years looking for a V code and not finding...or pony up a fee for someone to find it.
Or your friend could just overlook a 1/4" tall by 3/16" wide V stamped on a 68 cowl tag and save himself years of disillusion and money...and build the SAME car he lost the way he wants it...only thing stopping him is the V.
But that's just my opinion....

If you are looking for a car or need it inspected before purchase, Banshee is one of the guys I would recommend doing it. He knows his stuff and does have a lot of connections.
It took me two years of constant searching to find my car, checking multiple site's 5 or6 times a day.

I see that the post is almost a year old but . . . I have a nightshade green, numbers matching, 350 convertible, but it's an automatic that I've been using as a 'cruzer' for about 20 years now. a stock survivor, no modifications but plenty of maintenance and TLC, brand new top and interior, garaged of course. not 'show' quality but turns heads when on the road. wasn't looking to sell but I happened upon this site while researching '68 literature and saw this post . . . it may be a 'sign' that it's time to sell (if your friend is still looking).
