I like the color, some do not. Looks like a lot of the expensive pieces that are typically missing are still intact. It will need a few thousand in work like bushings, etc unless they have been replaced- so I would keep that in mind.
I did see a blue 400vert 4sp that the guy claimed was pretty original (but you could tell he had put some work into it like decals and such) go for 44k last year on ebay.

Did that Blue one have a white top and Blue interior and no console?
Thanks,Tony
Yeah, no console. I'm the one that bought it. Was about 2 years ago. Only the front end suspension and exhaust aren't original but were replaced with era correct stuff. Assembly paint splotches were obviously touched up, but nothing else was "worked on".

You still have it? Pics would be cool- I was surprised that an un-restored car would go for that much- typically don't see that on these. I love the color combo on it, and hope to have one in those colors for my next one. The guy you bought that from is in Chicago right? He has sold a lot of birds if it's the guy I'm thinking of, he claimed he had the Nancy Sinatra bird- it was a documented 400HO Auto Vert- pink mist was the color.

If it's the same car I'm thinking of. It's originally from Randolph nj about a 1/2 mile from me ..was owned by an older guy that bought it new I belive in boonton ,nj??? I looked at it a few years ago. It was clean and original. No tach on hood right?

That's the one, Tony. I'll look at the window sticker for the exact dealer name/location, but it was originally bought in NJ. I've thought about calling that old guy (in his 80s now) as I have his phone number and address from the original title. I have never met him, but have a picture of him standing in front of the car. Think it would be too weird to call him randomly?
Sleddog - yeah, I bought it from the guy in Chicago. He's the one that bought it from the guy in NJ and only owned it for about a year. Guy in Chicago was very knowledgeable about the first gens and had several other cars from this era in his shop and I remember seeing the Nancy Sinatra car for sale online. For being almost 50 years old the bird I bought still looks pretty darn good. Leaks a little oil and the radiator has started to leak a bit, but other than that it's nearly perfect mechanically. Paint is good for it's age, but sure would look awesome with a new paint job. The interior really doesn't need any work. I've talked to a few professional restoration companies and all have told me the same thing - don't restore a thing. It's only original once. I wanted a 68 unrestored 400/4 spd/vert survivor car and looked for almost 20 years to find one. When this one popped up on EBay I was getting it regardless of cost. I definitely paid good coin for it, but it actually appraised for more than what I paid so I feel good about it. Love this car!
PS - no clue how to post pics. Let me work on that and I'll post a few.

Yep, that's him. He knows quite a bit about these cars as he has been selling them for a long time. He was selling the pink mist HO for a pretty penny on Ebay, then pulled the plug and tried to sell it at Mecum or Barrett and it got keyed in the process. He wound up tearing it all down to re-do it and got hurt in his shop. He offered it to me for a decent price, but I had just bought mine. He did wind up selling it, and I don't know where it is today- but for some reason I was thinking that the guy who bought it checked in on here at one time?
That's great that you got what you wanted and had the patience to wait that long for it. I thought I was patient waiting 2 years- LOL.
