I'm trying to I.D. this center console I have. The part number looks like 979-0885. The "0" may be an "8" or "9" as it is under a nut that holds the wood trim on the top. My guess is it's from a Lemans/GTO but not 100%. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The Lemans and GTO console is long a skinny when compared to the Firbird. The firebird console flares outward from the compartment to the front end. The firebird console is held down at the front with two bolts while the LeMans / GTO console (From 68-72) is held down with 1 (in the center).
Nice pix and reply Q. (actually the 67 Camaro and Firebird consoles are the same, while Pontiac added the Burlwood on top of the same base and eliminated the rear light and rear ashtray for 68, the Camaro continued to use the same camera grain console up into 68)
Incredible reply! Thanks so much for your detailed help. The console is nearly identical to the 68-72 GTO/Lemans picture. The wood inserts are darker and it has the automatic shift plate still attached.
