A friend at work has a 77 t/a 400 4speed car and his headliner has separated fron the cardboad and is hanging down. Anyone know the proper (easy) way to glue this back up? Thanks. Jim
Not that I know of. If the headliner is glued to foam then the problem is most likely that the foam has begun to disintegrate and thus the liner is falling down. If you glued it to these spots it would just fall off in a short amount of time. Granted that you found a way to inject glue into these areas without making a mess or ruining the material.
Maybe just remove the headliner all together, strip off the material and find a similar fabric at your local fabric store? I did this on my package tray and it worked out really nice. Just my .02
Had same problem in my '89 pickup. Had to remove the headliner board from the car, then strip off the covering. I used 3M spray adhesive and some fake suade material I found at Walmart. It looks really good! Easy job.
You could always go the thumbtack or wooden slats route. it's been done. try to form a nice pattern w/ the thumbtacks
It really does need to be completely removed and stripped to do it right. It will just get worse or hang down somewhere else. You might be able to use the same material over again, but once they hang down they stretch a little.
