I know I know this topic has been beaten to death time and time again. I have spent the last week searching everything and have found a good start for what I want to achieve, but I will need help before I pull the trigger on a new set of wheels and rubber.

I have a 69' Firebird with all stock suspension. My goal is to achieve a vintage Trans Am look without a mini-tub setup. I plan on rolling the fenders but only within the boundaries as to not disturb the paint work. I am also prepared to move the rear shocks inboard.

Can anyone tell me what the maximum size 15" wheel and tire combo I can put on front and rear and offset? I would really love a 295-60 15x10 on the rear but have found mixed opinions on whether or not it will fit.

Again I am sorry that I am asking on this topic, especially considering this is my first post here in a while. Thank you for your insight!

I researched this not long ago and found the max tire size with a stock suspension is 235-60R15. This size won't [or shouldn't rub in the front. Of course you can go a little wider and taller in the back if you like staggered setup. I prefer that my tires are all the same so I can rotate them.
I also wanting the factory look so I went with a 15x8 Rally II's [w/ 4.5" back spacing]. However, now there are several options/choices if you want a Rally II; they also come in 16 & 17" diameters.
I was surprized in the improved handling and traction over the stock 14x7's [w/ 195 70R14 tires]. The overall tire diameter is similar to the original so there's less side-wall flex with the 235's.

You should be able to get a 275 tire in the rear if the wheel used has the correct offset to take full advantage of all the wheel well space.

I just measured, I have 245/60/14 tires on my factory 14x6 Rally II wheels, and I have a total of 1 inch of extra room combined space on the inside and outside of the tire. Which means a 270 width tire, so figure a 275 if you roll the inside of the rear fender lip a bit.
