I'm rebuilding my 1969 firebird - frame off. The rebuilt OHC 6 does not have AC and would like to add air conditioning to the car, vintage air sells a aftermarket unit ( Get IV part number 961168), but they do not supply the compressor brackets or the needed additional pully's - does anyone know where to buy them or have them made
I added AC to my 68 Sprint Firebird last year. As far as I know the only bracket that will work on the engine is the OEM one from Pontiac. ( look for 1966 or 1967 year brackets ) You can find them every now & then on ebay or post a wanted part on this site or on the Pontiac Overhead Cam Six Forum site. As far as the power steering pump ( if you have it) you need a double grove pulley. (ebay) Then you can use the OEM stock number belts that are available at any auto store. they will fit like a glove. EM me for pictures or additional info if you need it wayne@phoenixtrains.net https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/tmp/12756.jpg https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/tmp/12757.jpg
Nice! Great job on that. My buddy is installing a vintage air unit on his 66 Chevelle convertible- quite a process.

It is the Vintage Air system. went in like a glove & setting up the controls positions by way of programing was a snap too. I went for the new style compressor as the cost was less ( at the time) than the retro looking one. A sweet system that blows so cold the wife asked me a number of times to turn it down . That never happened with the OEM in my other Bird. I almost forgot to mention you will need spacers & longer bolts on the PS pump mount to make the belts line up right, but that's all you have to modify.
