Mine keep squealing, 69 and up GM single piston front disc. I took the pads off and chamfered the corners of the pads and it worked for a couple of days then started again. I'm going to get some new pads, anyone have suggestions for what brand and type? It's been a long time since I've bought any, Thanks.

Try some of this on the new pads.

You smear it on the backsides and let it set up and reassemble everything.

If you still have problems you may need to take a wee bit off the rotors.

1)Get the softest (organic) pads available. NO ceramic.
2)Make sure you use brake "grease" during assembly. Its really sticky stuff you use on the backs of the pads during assembly.
3)"scratch up" the rotor surface by sanding diagonally across the surface in both directions, or use a rotary air sander to lightly scuff the surfaces...just to remove any glaze that may have developed, and to help the new pads seat.
4) scratch up the surface of those new pads just a bit.
my 2 cents...

...and make sure the retainer clips are installed.

How hard is it to replace just the disc brake pads on my 69? Any special tools needed?
