I just had a new top installed on my 68 and noticed that the top frame when it goes down in beside the upper seat back wants to hit the top of the cover panel. I remember it having this problem years ago. When you put the top down as the hinge gets close to the rear seat you would have to turn around and push the top frame toward the passenger side so it would miss. It pushes over with very little resistance. The top clears fine when coming up but then when putting back down same problem. Anyone else have a similar problem?
Yes, my power top 'bird has a similar problem since her new top went on. Seems like the material shrunk a little and pulls the hinge locations towards each other. Takes two people to pop them apart. I would love to know how to fix that. (Without putting another new top on)
In your case it seems like a side to side alignment problem.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
