The passenger door will not open. I can lift the door handle and it lifts up the lever on the lock. The push button on the outside works and pushes the lever. I'm thinking there may be a spring inside the lock that could have broken.
I have also inserted a screwdriver from the bottom to try to move something to release locking mechanism. Can someone tell me how I can open the door
I had that problem close to 15 years ago...cannot recall how I opened it...but once I had it open...I just re-bent, straightened that piece a bit.....once bent its just a tad too short to activate...
for some reason, I think I got panel and handle off...but do not recall how I opened the door.....I`ve slept since
Try with the key back and forth many times with the button pressed and not many times, also when you turn key to unlock lift the lock knob too... had same problem...

I tried every suggestion ,nothing worked!!!! Grabbed my Dremmel with the flex shaft and started to cut the back off the latch. I cut through the fastening studs on the side that can be seen easily. Used a screwdriver to try to separate the back off. When I lifted the lever that attaches to the inside door handle to make room to finish cutting the back plate the door moved about !/2 inch. I asked my wife to come out to try to open door from the outside. I put a flathead screwdriver into the latch and lift it up while she pushed the button and the door opened. After some inspection what was found is the top screw on the latch had backed out about 1/4 inch. I tighten the screw and closed the door , pushed the button and the door opened.
SO THE SCREW BACKED OUT which would not allow the latch to open the door. Possibility if I would have pushed the back of the latch hard against the door it may have opened and I would not have to now purchase a new latch. Also I will now put some lock tite on all the screws on both door latches . So guys put some lock tite on your latch screws
