I'm fitting 67 deck lid. With the 2 bumpers out the lid fits perfect at bottom. With the bumpers in bottom is way too high wont even latch. All other top and sides look perfect. Weather-strip not in yet. Any help for me?
Did you keep the old bumpers to make sure they are the same? Were the rear 1/4 or tail panel changed? May want to use some clay or tinfoil in the bumper location and see how thin it needs to be. You could shave down the bumpers or beat down the pad area. You may find the whole lid will be up high once the weatherstripping goes in. Adjusting the latch is an option as well.
Nope everything the same just painted with new bumpers. Maybe the old ones were different, long gone. Everything fits so well other wise, side to side and at top.
Most repop bumpers are too thick and need to be ground down. Usually save the old ones to compare.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Also found that the typical trunk weatherstip that is sold is wrong. One day I'll post side by side cross section picture. The thickness of the wrong one doesn't let the deck lid close the was it should. As a result one or all corners sit higher. But also the bump stops need to be trimmed to adjust.
