First day at Barrett Jackson. We saw many, many amazing rides, but saw more Mustangs, Corvetts and Camaros than anything else. Only two first gen birds!! (69 350 and 69 400) What's up? Will collectors start picking up and restoring them more after seeing so few of them at the show, or is it because there are so few of them that we don't see more of them there? Also saw many awesome older Pontiacs, but I think I saw a few dozen more Camaros ( as nice as they were) than I needed to.

They seem to do better at MECUM.

Maybe Firebird owners don't want to part with their cars.

There have always been and will always be less firebirds than camaros because they just plain made less of them. Also they had more power to weight ratio which made them more prone to be totaled. But the main reason you see less of them is the fantastic job of advertising that Chevy did. Same as the ford trucks. American as apple pie.

Agreed, I am also one of those who will never part with their bird. My son thinks I'm leaving it to him but I recently told him I plan to be buried in it! Offered him the shotgun seat for that ride, but he has yet to reply!

Cemetery Office: "Yes, I'd love to help you find one. What are you looking for?" cme469: "I want to reserve 12 adjacent plots in a 4X3 arrangement." Cemetery Office: "A future family burial lot?" cme469: "No. A single big plot."

Seriously, while doing some family genealogy research I spotted a grave marker in a Highland County, Ohio cemetery that actually has a '68 Firebird picture on it. We had done our research in one area where I suspected ancestors would be and while driving out I spotted it and stopped to take a picture.

It was my first time at Barretts, Your not joking about number of Camaros throughout the show, I also only saw 2 First Gen Birds, I checked out a 69 with 400, Think it sold for 27K. Had great time and was a pleasure hooking up with you, thanks for bringing the Deck Lid.

When my son and I was checking out 69 Bird , two guys came over with serious Intent, They were all over engine compartment with Flashlights and paper and pen. Car already back in tent with sold sticker on windshield. You would think they would of checked prior.Seemed there were some issues with front panels and grill lining up.Maybe CME469 had a better look, After they showed up we walked away.

If you want to make money at BJ's just buy a 70's Bronco or Blazer or any year VW wagon. The crap that sold for more than $50k!

Gus68 is spot on, couldn't believe Auction price on Broncos and Blazers, seems like real big money for basic trucks like those to command those prices.

It is now the era of the Second Gens at these auctions. Later second gens at that.

Always best to be a seller at Barrett-Jackson... Prima facie evidence right here: 1970 GSX at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Jan. 13-21 http://v8buick.com/index.php?thread...cottsdale-jan-13-21.328733/#post-2760890"This car sold at the Dallas Mecum sale a few months ago for $56K and is now to be sold at BJ Scottsdale." "Sold for $127K, not counting buyers premium!" Owner pulled engine and addressed some shortcomings, put it back together and on the auction block.
