It would appear from parts 60-64 there is nothing going thru big hole.
It looks like 63 goes through the two holes and 62 through the top big one. Section 8.977 does not have a 3/8-16 1 1/2" or 1 1/18" however it shows a cad 3/8-16 1" and a cad 1 1/4' with a washer head. That makes sense when I looked at mine.
Thanks for that pic. Do you remember if the bolt through the large hole has a washer face the same diameter as the inside diameter of the large hole?
BTW, what was bolted to the frame behind the bump stop where the paint is missing and the two bolts in the frame? I have the same thing, two bolts and an obvious pattern where something was bolted to the frame. Exhaust hanger perhaps?
Al, That is the tailpipe hanger. I don't believe that was the correct clamp holding the pipe to the hanger so this past summer I replaced them with what I believe are the correct ones when I did new tail pipes and crossover muffler.
Jim, I see it now. I've just got the dual exhaust without the transverse muffler, but I think a clamp down from that spot will keep my tail pipe from hitting the body panels when the exhausts raps. thanks for the pic.

Sorry, without raising the car and removing the bolt, I can't answer more about it. I have not had it off for 15 years.
The quarter panel is the only major non-factory original body part in that picture. It was installed in 2004. The rest is just hours of restoration about 2000-2002. The car originally got a lot of factory overspray so, except for where the factory missed recesses like the tunnel, I repainted it red. The wheel well came out looking nice using an asphalt-based coating I found similar to the factory original type.

They came out of my old coupe. You now taking off one of these brackets is one of the best ways to verify the stock color. A small patch of steel is covered by these brackets and the body has been painted stock before the brackets are installed. So pop off your bracket next time you have your wheel off to see what was sprayed on your under body.

Thanks for the pics, guys. It always amazes me to see pics of old car's frames and under bellies before being worked on and then what they look like after. A lot of work. Mine looks OK from the topside and under the hood but I kinda treat the under belly with the "out of sight out of mind" routine. Perhaps because I started to have a hard time getting up after laying under the car. Funny, it didn't seem to bother me that much ten years ago when I was only 57.
Those brackets were not on my car when I bought it. Exhaust was changed who knows when, and there were air shocks installed to keep up the sagging rear end. I'm finally installing the new springs I bought a couple years back and thankfully getting rid of the junk air shocks. I bought the bump stops about five years ago but they would not fit with the fat air shocks. I had installed 67 style bumps that go under the frame not attached to the side.
I hope the new springs keep the back-end up as high as I want and allow me to use the new Gas-a-just shocks I purchased yesterday.
My '68 was very low early in its life. The factory springs front and rear were terrible. It would bottom out easily, hitting those axle bumpers (and possibly the pinion bumper), especially when I had passengers in the back seat. The sound and shock from the hit was teeth-rattling. At some point one of the bumpers must have been hit so hard that it disappeared.
I tried spacers in the front springs but that made the ride even worse and they got jarred out on Illinois potholes. By the time I put new springs on 31 years ago, I couldn't clear a speed bump without scraping the frame.
Put them in today. Drivers side went well, the passenger side wasn't even close. I think I got them from Ames but can't really remember. I had to put the bracket in the vise and bend it with a 16" Crescent wrench, then elongate the large hole with a die grinder. Why can't they make then to fit?

Is it possible you got 2 lefts or 2 rights? Can you get just the rubbers and not the bracket?
I had to egg the holes when I replaced mine too with reproductions to fit. I searched for bolt in rubber but did not find any available. I wonder if 68 and 69 are slightly different and they were designed for 69.

Might be able to take rubber off new ones (mine has a bolt in rubber stock) and then mount on old bracket?
My originals where like that too. The rubber on the new ones don't have a bolt in them. Can't remember how they were mounted off the top of my head but I did not see a way unless you cut them off and epoxy a bolt in them.
