I have a 69 Firebird xb block all orginal-AC car 350 2brl th400 and the Th400 is original PV 69 on the id plate.. so I know for a fact the first owner never replaced the motor or trans..i am the second owner...car has 28 k orginal miles sat for over 20 years I have driven I about 5 miles and it would never shift out of first...so I pulled it into 2nd and it shifts fine after that... I have drained the tranny/serviced the filter, replaced the vacum modulator on the tranny, ckd the vac on the carb everthing is ok..now it has a solenoid on the drivers side I assumed was the downshift solenoid/ because there is NO gas pedal or carb kickdown switch..is this possible pontiac made a TH400 with only a vacuum modulator for kickdown?is the one wire solenoid a netraul safty or back up light switch?
