well my water pump was spewwing out anti-freeze it almost looks like the shaft that is connected to the pulley so i think that is a give to go ahead and replace the water pump. before i start undoing stuff anything i should know about prior or need to pay close attention to? i was just going to buy a reasonably priced one at all parts auto, if they get too pricy ill just call up summit again and order one from them. all your imput is appreciated. i just figure undo the bolts pull it out and install the new one and bolt that back up, draining the fluid of course!
do a search here and maybe on the PY board, on the water pump divider plate.
the clearence has to be just right, and i think the stamped impellor replacements have too much clearence and the plate has to be modified. The cast impellor replacements might be better. here is a website that goes over it. http://www.wallaceracing.com/water-pump-mods.php
several people here i think have had to do it, and might chime in.
Steve, it's pretty straight forward... and an easy R&R. As Scott mentioned, read that info, and implement the procedure to keep the impeller close to the divider, and you'll keep that H.O. running nice and cool this summer.
