Don't know if any of you are interested in audio, and my wife and I are not sure we understand it ourselves, however our son Ray (a 4th year engineering student at Chico State University. CA.) has been competing for the last 4 years. He has finished in the top 3 spots in the country each year since he has started competing in various classes. On February 18th he competed at the Sacramento Autorama car show at Cal Expo.
He competed in the Meca M4 class, which is: modified 10,000 watt. His score of 158.3 put him at #1 in the country in that class. He is also a factory rep for many of the components he uses and has the advantage of factory sponsorship's. He runs prototype speakers built for testing in his competitions. Currently running two alternators (over 600 amps) and seven AGM batteries.
Like I said, although we don't completely understand his sport, when you look at his design, engineering, and workmanship, you can't help being impressed. He also does custom builds for others who compete.
At the Autorama show he received 5 awards, including 2 best of show.
Like I always tell his mother, "It could have been bungee jumping or parachuting - he may go deaf but at least he's close to the ground!"
A proud father, good job supporting your son, no matter what he is doing.
I would love to see what he could do to a Firechicken. I am having a hard time stuffing as much stereo stuff into mine as I want. Im working on a convertible so its even harder.
Congrats to your son. I'm getting more interested in audio, particularly for my 3 convertibles. A good friend of mine's daughter finished up at Chico State a year ago. She's back here in Texas and misses California a lot.
