Just now reassembling rearend getting ready to put axles back in along with disc conversion kit and was wondering if the axle flange plate should have a paper gasket or silicone between it and axle flange. I put new seals in which should prevent any oil from getting to the outside but its been a long time since i disassembled the rearend i couldnt remember if there was a gasket in there or not, just want to make sure because it would suck putting all this stuff back on and having gear oil running out the side of each axle
I just used gasket sealer and never had a problem. It's not like the diff oil is under much pressure (I.e. the vent at the top of the axle).
