Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum and am excited to have found it. I am working on a 1968 Firebird with factory A/C. I am having a major challenge getting the old radio out to install my new USA-740 from Custom Autosound. I have removed almost everything necessary for the removal of the radio. I am unable to get the distribution ducts out or glovebox to allow me to remove the radio brace to radio screw. Please! Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Update! I discovered pete67400 fantastic post on 1967 Air Conditioning. Thanks to his detailed post I was able to disassemble the distribution ducts and extract the factory radio. Although it wasn’t without a couple of unavoidable issues. I need to purchase new 2 3/4†a/c flex hose to the right side vent and a new glovebox. The glovebox was due to frustration and I ended up physically removing it. I’m not sure how to install a new one when I get it.
Thank you guys, Great to find this forum. Those that have installed a new stereo in their first gen firebird. Does the front seat. Rear seat and rear inner panel all need to come out in order to run new speaker wire through the original path? Also has advice on removing the A-Pillar inner panel would be greatly appreciated.
