I found PPG DDL 9248 (GM Sash Black) to be an excellent match. If you look close, the outer housing is chromed with all but a small ring adjacent to the lens painted. After chemically stripping the paint off of mine, I found that the chrome had been sanded before painting at the factory.
I noticed the same thing. I saw chrome under the paint so I stripped the paint thinking that a previous owner painted it black. Then I noticed the sanding marks and figured that it came from the factory that way. Now its time to repaint it. thanks for paint tip.
I used Eastwood's Underhood Black. It looks beautiful.
