They can, but you would need a collar for the pinion shaft. You can contact a company like Randy's Ring and Pinion and they would be able to get you the right stuff.
That was Quick!!! Thank you!!! I see one on E bay really cheap right now and want to change the one I have. That's the only Flaw I have with the Firebird. 3.36 on a 400 car is a joke IMO Do you think its a good Idea or would you go with something different?

That does not sound right, unless you are talking about the installation kit and a posi unit, plus the part I was thinking of which makes up the difference in the pinion shaft diameter between the chevy and he BOP pinion bearings.
As far as I know, it's not that big a deal.
What were they trying to sell you for that kind of money?
Also, since you're already in series 3 gears, I would expect you only need Richmond gears in the low 4's and an installation kit. the whole thing should cost you less than $400. (Or so I would think.)
I would shop around a bit more, I know 8.2's are very expensive to rebuild, I just wanted to replace my 3.08's in my 66 Lemans with a posi carrier(that I had already) and a set of 3.90's. Bottom line the ring and pinion were $275 the installation kit $118.00 some new bearings $70.00 and other miss. pieces and I had over $600.00 into my 8.2.
