I am putting my Firebird back together and am having trouble with the trunk lock assembly.
I got it installed but it won't work. The rod that goes from the back of the key lock to the latch seems to be binding because of the angle of the rod. The diagram I've seem show the rod as being straight. Is that a correct depiction? I have replaced the back panel and reinstalled the latch bracket and all seem to be in the right location. Any thoughts?

I have seen two types of connectors between the lock and latch. One is the rod but it’s not completely straight, the other has a kind of ball type universal joint that helps it work at the angle between the lock and latch.

I've seen those in different drawings but have not seen any for sale anywhere. Thanks for the info. I was wondering if anyone with a 69 could tell me how theirs looks.

Thanks for the info. I did finally see it in my Classic Industries catalog. It always amazes me how much something like that costs. I guess it's the price you have to pay when you own a classic car.

Broke mine and had to replace. Got it from Classic like Mickey suggested, glad now that I have the right part!

Well I bit the bullet and ordered the part. I'm glad Classic had a sale and free shipping but had to get a few more parts. That's been my life with this Bird ;-)

Welcome to the club man! Post some pics of your progress on the bird sometime in the ramblings and chatter
